4 Grounding Techniques To Balance Your Root Chakra

The beginning of all spiritual work is not awakening the third-eye, but in creating a sense of stability in the body. It doesn’t matter how high your vibration raises, if you’re unable to hold that vibration, it can leave you feeling overwhelmed by the vastness of what you're receiving from the universe. What is the root chakra? 

The root chakra, also known as the Muladhara, is the first chakra located at the base of the spine. It governs your sense of safety, security, and stability. When balanced, you feel grounded, secure, and connected to the world.

 

What is grounding? 

Grounding is the practice of aligning with the earth’s energy to help you feel more centred and present. It allows you to release excess energy, using the earth’s magnetic charge to balance the electricity within your cells.

 

Here are 4 techniques to ground your energy

 

1. The first 30 minutes of your day – give it to God (in whatever way speaks to your heart)

I know life gets crazy—work, studying, parenting, the constant hustle—but if you can dedicate even just five minutes of your morning to tune into your body, you’ll feel a shift. Instead of reaching for your phone, take a moment to breathe, ask the universe what you want to feel today, and connect with that intention. You’ll be surprised at how many miracles can happen in a day when you start with clarity.

 

2. Clean your space 

I know it f***ing sucks, but a cluttered environment drains your mental energy. Just as your body is your first home, your environment is your second, and it deeply affects how you feel. Taking a few minutes to tidy up—wash some dishes or do some laundry—will refresh your mind and give you a small win to start your day strong.

 

3. Practice bodily self-care before bed 

Wash your face or hands, care for your skin, nourish your hair, enhance your smile. These small acts of self-care reconnect you with your body.  Even if it feels off some days, see it as a permission slip to do the best you can with what you have. Over time, you’ll begin to enjoy these rituals and naturally move away from habits that don’t serve you.

 

4. Tell yourself the truth

Listen, to be grounded in the present, you need a solid foundation. Knowing who you are and what it means to be alive is vital. Affirmations, (words of truth) bring you back into alignment. On tough days, when anxiety takes over, or the world feels too heavy, the truth can pull you back from the edge, and nothing cuts through fear quite like truth.

 

 

Spiritually Speaking: 

The root chakra is one of the most harvested energies on this planet. When we are constantly worried about money, safety, or health, the root chakra falls out of balance. When this chakra is out of balance, the decisions made about your finances, body, and home become self destructive. 

 

Forgive me if this comes as a shock, but you must know this truth:
you’re supposed to feel safe in your body.
you’re supposed to feel safe about your living conditions.
you’re supposed to feel safe about your financial well-being .

 

This societal model will do everything in its power to make you think and feel the opposite. When you're in a state of fear and scarcity, your energy becomes ripe for the taking. But when you choose ease—when you choose being over needing—you take the power back.

 

 

These practices may seem simple, but it’s the simplest things that transmute energy. Placing your bare feet on the ground is one of the quickest ways to reconnect with the Divine Mother. If that’s not always an option, remember that your body is formed from the earth, and infused with the Spirit of God. Connect with it, nurture it, and let it bloom, for your words and actions are prayers to the heavens.
